When computer has low disk/memory space, some textures (the dirt texture for Updating Minecraft for example) and interfaces display a white background and have black text saying "missing texture". It also may appear that way on skins.
Steps to recreate:
1. Fill memory space with a large number of files or play a whole lot of Minecraft
2. Log in and check textures and interfaces
3. Also check skins

@Ben:
You really think this is a bug? This is like saying: "Hey Mojang, my computer can't handle Minecraft when running 500 other background applications, pleeease fix it!"
You better check http://help.mojang.com/customer/portal/articles/325948-minecraft-system-requirements and add some information about your system to this ticket. If your computer has less than the 2 GB required RAM, I'll consider this ticket to be invalid in general. If you have 2 GB or more RAM, please test Minecraft without any other applications running in the background. If you still see "missing texture" everywhere, then it's valid bug!
Besides, check if you have any mods installed, some mods can cause your problem too (often saw this with "Too many items" installed on my side, even with 8 GB RAM).
