[MC-15985] Some of my items disappeared

My enchantment bar disappeared when I enchanted an iron pic at level 6. Also all of my hardened clay disappeared! That took me a long time to collect. I wanted to go into creative mode to get it back but you can't unless installing a mod. I do not feel comfortable installing mods.
