I accidentaly went through a gateway whilst building, and the fricking Ender Dragon appeared out of nowhere and started flying. I went to the main island and I think he may be trying go back to there. I think he hasn't appeared yet because he's on unloaded chunks. How tf does this happen?

However, this issue is Invalid.
Your game, launcher or server is modified.
If you can reproduce the issue in a vanilla environment, please recreate the issue.
Any non-standard client/server/launcher build needs to be taken up with the appropriate team, not Mojang.
Any plugin issues need to be addressed to the creator of the plugin or resource pack.
If you have problems on large servers, such as The Hive and Hypixel, please contact them first as they run modified server software.

Ender Dragon have a chance of entering the gateway portal after you have respawned her.
If you enter the portal BEFORE the Ender Dragon, it would unload the chunk and make the dragon not able to move.
Don't worry, once it enters, she will fly back to the island.
