so there is a weird lightning bug/glitch i am encountering in minecraft 1.14.4. where sometimes it looks like there is no smooth lightning at all (i have enabled smooth lightning to maximum). it mainly occurs over water, and underground in stripmines.
it doesn't occur on the ground or in naturally generated caves, it only occurs when i strip mine or on the water.
i don't have any mods, texture packs or shader packs
Mojang, if you're listening, please fix this as soon as possible, i have attached images with more description of this bug.

@lolotrolp99 What is unclear? i said sometimes the lightning is blocky like it was in 2009-2010. there is no smooth lightning sometimes and i feel this is because of the lightning engine change in 1.14

We're actually already tracking this issue in MC-148689 and MC-1531, so I resolved and linked this ticket as a duplicate.
