After completing the demo and buying the game I loaded up my world and when I tried right-clicking my dogs to stand, they wouldn't stand up. This might be because I sat my dogs down after it said demo time was up to take a screenshot.

Not a bug, your putting up your shield that why, do it with a empty slot.

@Fabrizio Cantero I tried to stand up my dogs with an open hand but that didn't work. The reason I put a photo with a shield was to show I was actively trying to right-click my dogs. Also it is possible to right click to stand up your dog with a shield.
