scaffolding - to scaffold
Confirmed 19w41a.
This is my exact method of reproducing the bug:
Create the same clock as is displayed in the pictures above.[*]
Power a sticky piston
and place any moveable block on-top of it.When the sticky piston is unpowered, place a scaffolding block. (Although, highly suggest placing more as it increases the number of ticks before all the scaffolding blocks are broken.)
Upon the sticky piston powering, quickly place another scaffolding block. (It may be easier to just spam-click instead of attempting to time it correctly.)
You will now have a flying scaffolding block.
You are able to stack the scaffolding blocks very high up if you repeat the aforementioned steps multiple times. The properties of the scaffolding blocks are a bit odd. You see they don't actually exist. If you re-log they will completely disappear, yet you can still interact with them as if they were normal blocks. However, if you right-click the floating blocks they will disappear.
Note: This is also confirmed working with a normal piston.
[*] Can be reproduced with any other form of redstone signal, using a clock simply makes it easier.
