[MC-16360] Accented characters not working

You can't use any of the accented characters like à/è/ò in the game chat.

Probably only a Mac-version bug, but in the older version I've never had this problem.

Cannot confirm on Windows. They're blocky but they still show up, see attached screenshot.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Confirmed, not working on Mac OS X 10.8.5 (newest) in 1.6.4
