While trading with villagers, the experience progress bar shoots beyond the gui

i placed down a composter to start trading with a new villager. He had not traded up to this point. I traded 8 times with him and the white progress bar started to go beyond the gui. I contined trading with another item, and the progress bar continued well past the gui on the screen by nearly an inch and a half
