Please provide a screenshot with the debug screen enabled (hit the F3 key) demonstrating the issue, also please force a crash by pressing F3 + C for 10 seconds while in-game and attach the crash report (minecraft/crash-reports/crash-<DATE>-client.txt) here.
I believe that this is caused by the banner patterns filling up the whole banner, which is also covered at MC-166062
