Maps in map wall all changed to 1:8 scale, all the same

When looking at my map wall (floor) all the maps have changed to 1:8 scale (from 1:1) and all appear the same despite having different details. If they have same number they all update identically but with different number they need to be updated and taking two different ones out but only looking at one updates that one only. I've only a smallish area mapped so don't need 1:8 scale just yet and I can't see anything but the largest structures. Also the backgrounds are transparent where it's not discovered not just plain white.

Also when I look at maps in the chest they say unknown map but show their number when in inventory then once back in chest retain that information. Situation is the same with and without resource packs or mods.

Tried searching but so many reports just say map....

Can you clarify whether this happened during the transition to 1.15? If so, could you attach the backup created when upgrading to 1.15?

You can find the backup in a folder named "backups" in the Minecraft data folder. Refer to this document to find that: https://minecrafthopper.net/help/guides/finding-minecraft-data-folder/

Just loaded my 14.4 backup and this is what it looks like. So it must have occurred during the switch. Do you still need the backup adding? it's 317MB. And it appears the undiscovered bits are clear - my bad, thought they were white but that's when you're holding them (still a bit of a noob).

Yes, please attach the world or link to a world download.

Also, please make sure that the issue also happens if you're not using mods. We don't support mods here.

Yes the same without any mods at all, I did put that in original post.

So I loaded up the backup in 1.14 and verified that it wasn't broken, then loaded it in 1.15 and it looks the same. So I can't reproduce this, unfortunately. Are you still seeing this at all or did the backup make the issue go away?

I didn't realise it had done this until I'd done a good few hours work on my slime farm and I don't want to do that again so I haven't restored to it. It's not many maps, I can sort it out. I was more concerned for those with massive map walls who may not have updated yet. Might be something I did , if it's not done that for you then it's likely either user error at my end with maybe updating with mods on or something . Everything else is working fine and I'm happy with what's going on elsewhere. Thanks for the quick responses. Sorry to be a pain.

It’s all good. I’m going to resolve this for now but it’ll still be here if it reoccurs or if someone else has the issue.
