This morning, it was fine, now, in the evening, it's fine, MinecraftDev crashes upon the launcher opening minecraft except on 1.5.2, which works, until i want to open the map, then, before I can see any loaded blocks, etc. it crashes! The Old Launcher does the same as 1.5.2. Why does this happen? I need help!

Your Java version is extremely out of date. Please update your Java to the latest version: http://www.java.com/en/download/. Keep in mind that when using a 32-bit browser on a 64-bit OS the automatic version detection will only show the 32-bit version of Java, the 64-bit version needs to be downloaded manually: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp.
Please report if the issue persists with the latest Java version.

Also please use the default texture pack as this is likely a texture pack issue.

Yes, apparently there is meta-information stored in the png files in your texturepack: JohnSmithLegacy.zip
Your java version is most likely unable to parse them properly and this causes problems for you.

You should really update it because it's more than 5 years old now 🙂
