Same issue on my side, looks like a memory leak: RAM usage gets up to 4,5GB after which the Minecraft UI freezes (but sounds can still be heard), also pressing Esc repeatedly seems to pause/unpause the game, although the image remains frozen (FPS in F3 cam go all low as 0-7 at times)

JVM Args: -Xmx2G
issue still reproducible in snapshot 20w10a
The issue can be avoided by reducing the number of loaded chunks from 32 to 12, the memory consumption sinks to about 3GB and the game does not freeze anymore, however it is still laggy at times

What a horrible moderator. Instead of helping to resolve an issue, they mark it as incomplete and throw away the post.
A lot of people are having FPS issues dropping to 0-3 FPS after the 1.16 update and nothing is being done about it.
There are no steps to "reproduce the problem" except installing Minecraft 1.16, the latest update. What an absurd moderator. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to report him.
Please provide some stats, bare numbers and some more details along with your report. 'More laggier' isn't a valid report and doesn't help us to pinpoint down the issue you're encountering.
