When the player moves around the Nether, the Nether fog in the distance will flicker. This flickering makes distant structures momentarily visible.
Two screenshots are attached. One shows the fog working correctly, the other shows the flickering effect.
Reproduce
Seed: 1
Coordinates: /execute in minecraft:the_nether run tp @p -96 60 3 -135 0Turn render distance to 16 chunks
Move back to the basalt delta
❌ Notice the fog flickering
Expected Result
The fog wouldn't flicker

Example: Set render distance to 11. Create a world with seed 1. Go to Nether, face north, tp to 10 91 56, move north and south between 10 91 56 and 10 91 40.
With the change to the distribution of Nether biomes, the locations where this can be reproduced has changed.
Set render distance to 13. Create a world with seed 1 in creative mode. Go to Nether, face south, tp to -42 88 -123, move north and south between -42 88 -112 and -42 88 -134.
I am unable to reproduce this issue in 21w19a. The nether fog did not appear to "flicker" in the distance when moving between biome boundaries. I tested this with a wide variety of different biomes in the nether and was still unsuccessful in reproducing this problem.
Affects 21w19a and 1.16.5.
To reproduce, create a world with seed 1, set render distance to 13 chunks and execute this command: "/execute in minecraft:the_nether run tp @p -96 60 3 -135 0" to be teleported to a biome boundary (nether wastes and basalt deltas). Then move back and forward with w and s keys to cross the biome boundary and look into the distance.
This flickering is not obvious. It is subtle, but it is clear once it is seen.
I have created a video "MC-173252.mp4" that demonstrates the flickering. This was created at the same location and seed as the previous comment (seed 1, nether -96 60 3, facing -135 0).
