[MC-17509] Every time I try to use the escape key, minecraft crashes

If I try to use the escape key to go to the options menu Minecraft crashes. It happens with any world that I try it with.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
