Occasionally sliding without any command

I have had a few occasions where my character will keep moving even when I stop pressing the keys to make them move. Additionally, the movement is a bit faster and smoother than regular walking, more like flying in creative. This has happened twice in my survival world and once in creative, where the movement in question was flying.
