can not smelt with fungi stem or planks made from fungi

can not smelt with fungi stem or planks made from fungi

What I expected to happen was...:
i expected to be able to turn warped fungi stem and crimson fungi stem into charcoal for torches. didn't work for a bucket of lava either

i also expected to be able to burn warped fungi stem, warped planks, crimson fungi stem and crimson planks to smelt ancient debris into netherite scrape, polished blackstone bricks to make cracked polished blackstone bricks, warped fungi stem and crimson fungi stem into charcoal, netherack to make nether brick 

What actually happened was...:
nothing happened no smelting nothing

Steps to Reproduce:
i can put  warped fungi stem, warped planks, crimson fungi stem and crimson planks into the top slot but not put any into the bottom slot
