Introduction:
Dear Mojang,
I know that a few Minecraft players are affected by color blindness. In my case it's even worse. I have achromatopsia and that means that I cannot see colors at all. However we love playing Minecraft, but in some situations it's very difficult for us to tell the difference between blocks.
Problems:
Sand and Clay:
Because sand and clay blocks have the same texture I cannot see a difference between these two blocks: To fix that just slightly change the texture of clay blocks. (Of course we could change/edit the texturepack/ressourcepack, but this is only a workaround and may not work for younger players, because they don't know how to edit textures)
Wool and Hardened Clay and Carpet:
Because there is a great variation of these blocks, changing their texture wouldn't make any sense. I would suggest adding a sensor tool that can be crafted. If you click on a block with this tool equipped it will display the name of it on screen.
History:
The situation of color blind people having difficulties playing video games exists ever since. The most recent example is Bioshock 2. It was impossible to tell the difference between "good" and "bad" sections inside the hacking minigame. Chorus of outrage let the developers change their mind and they have released a fix.
I hope that you take this seriously.

"Feature and improvement suggestions are not currently being tracked here." I think that this is some sort of a bug.(well not for the majority) I do make suggestions how to fix it, yes, but for color blind people it is annyoing. Labeling this as resolved without being affected your self makes me feel angry.
It is an annoyance, and not a malfunction of the game code. We are not asking for suggestions on how to improve Minecraft on this tracker.
This site is for bug reports only. Feature and improvement suggestions are not currently being tracked here. Dinnerbone himself is colorblind, so badgering the developers is probably not going to do any good.
