*Installs Resource Pack* Minecraft: You did not install anything.

I have been playing since Alpha, I just downloaded a couple of resource packs and installed them to the resource packs folder, but when I open the button "Texture Packs" which should say Resource Packs it is not working by that I mean I it does not even show them on the list.

having the same problem here, while many are complaining about the crashes using one causes, i cant even see the resource packs besides the default ( converted texture packs in the resourcepacks folder)

using ubuntu linux and java 7

Did you put the resource pack in the resource pack folder?

Yes. It is called resourcepacks and it is a folder you and there is a button in Options to go there. I have tried a crap ton of them, but none are working.

same, not to mention even left a copy in the texture folder just incase.

That is exactly what I did! I first put the resource pack in my resourcepacks folder then it did not show up so I put it in my texture packs folder and I also shut down minecraft and all and re opened it!

Texture packs have to be converted to resource packs.
Not a Minecraft bug.

Yes this is a bug. You didn't understand. I am downloaded a RESOURCE PACK. I put it in the resourcepacks folder and it did NOT show up. I put it also in the TEXTUREPACKS folder TOO because I think it is a minecraft bug, but I guess some of us are screwed because we hate default texture and want to play around with sounds and can't because it's not working.

Then the "resource packs" are incompatible.
Resource packs are showing up in the list, see screenshots.
Still not a Minecraft bug.

I've been having the same issue - even with resource packs that people I know have got working, which suggests it's not a compatibility issue to me.
