Seems weird but it would be a nice feature to keep in the game, taking in account that the only biome that can be found on superfalt - overworld is plains, only generating villages as surface structures.
I signaled this bug not because I want it to be fixed but so you can consider fixing it or implementing it as a feature in the next snapshot!

We're actually already tracking this issue in MC-180603, so I resolved and linked this ticket as a duplicate.
