When selecting the Empty Map from the Crafting book, it only puts in the 8 required Paper, but doesn't put in the 1 required Compass. which results in no map.
When the Compass is put in manually, it will work
If you don't have a compass in your inventory it will disappear from Showing Craftables as expected
Are you sure you're playing in the latest snapshot? This was supposed to be fixed in 20w17a: MC-176060
