Resource packs don't work...

I used TextureEnder on my custom version of JohnSmith and put it into the resource pack folder. When I tried to open it Minecraft crashed, and when I reopen Minecraft all of the words are messed up etc. I then try to change it back to default texture pack and it crashes. Although if you open it up again its back to default and works fine unless you try to use another resource pack...You can play Minecraft with the resource pack its just some of the textures are screwed up (THIS MIGHT BE THE TEXTURE PACK, IT'S 32x32) and the text is just plain jibber ish and doesn't even look like any language at all...Overall the crashing, text, and possibly textures are the problem.
