Rain in the Nether

Every now and then, when I travel through the nether, rain seems to fall for a couple seconds after traveling through. It doesn't last very long, but I both see and hear the rain, and the subtitles for the game even detects it. Because of it's short life span, it was very hard to actually get a screenshot of, but somebody else on the server was able to get a screenshot.

Edit: I forgot to mention that this happens even when it is not raining in the overworld.
