Blocks in inventory disappearing

Items in my inventory are dissappearing

What I expected to happen was...:
Tried to use wood planks to craft fence gates.

What actually happened was...:
Grabbed wood planks from shulker box, when into crafting table, exited without crafting and the planks were gone.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have items in inventory
2. open crafting table select fence gate recipe
3. exit crafting table without crafting, items gone
