There is an area that is zero fps, has dataless holes in the ground, sheep number in the hundreds there. And the world is just not loading normally

Riding my powered rail I expected to not just all of a sudden stop while the sound of the powered mine cart kept going

I hit an area with zero fps and sheep were in the hundreds with a square hole going as far down into the ground as possible. Like there was no programmed data for it. And now the whole world is kind of buggy and doesn't load as normal, even on initial startup. The whole world is just not working most of the time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Just going into the area is all it takes. One of the swamp/plains regions.
2. ...
3. ...

^Then why even have it available?

Anyway, I experienced the same glitch last snapshot on my server, but a million squid spawned in the ocean. The dataless "holes" you are talking about are also known as chunk errors. Did you happen to have horses in the area? or named horses? Did you use the /kill command or any other command?

I just replaced the region file from a backup, but that can be complicated...

It's a problem with the tracker software (JIRA). The "Affects Version/s" field draws from the same list as the "Fix Version/s" field. They can't be controlled separately. They want the future version on that list so the developers can specify that something will be fixed in it, but that unfortunately means it also has to be an option in the "Affects version/s" box.
