Extreme lag increase in 20w22a

The current snapshot of Minecraft appears to have extreme amounts of additional lag both on and offline compared to the previous snapshot. This has been experienced consistently by myself in addition to all the friends I usually play with. The type of lag encountered is almost exclusively frame rate issues, ranging from 10 to 2 fps. I have downgraded to older versions of Minecraft to test it and have concluded that this issue is consistent with the most recent snapshot and not a localized issue on my computer.
