if you hit a strider with a splash/lingering water bottle they fly up about 15 blocks or so

THIS ONLY HAPPENS WITH NATRUALY SPAWNING STRIDERS (this includes dismounted babies fron strider stacks) striders from a spawn eg or summon command will only get bumped slightly befor retuning to the lava as they should

Please check if this still happens in a freshly generated world in 1.16 Pre-release 2.

Unable to reproduce in 1.16 Pre-release 2.

This was an issue in earlier snapshot but has since been resolved, but not for already existing striders, see MC-176032.
