1.8.8 is very very old and outdated - the current stable version is 1.15.2, and the current development version is 1.16 Pre-release 3. We only track bugs with these versions, please check if you can reproduce this in those versions.

this maybe problem with the resource pack you are using. make sure to remove your resource pack(s) and see if the issue is still there
