Beds can be duplicated when you sleep in a bed when its getting night. You need to do it directly when it gets night or it doesn't work. You need to time it correctly. When you break the bed again you will get 2 beds. I haven't tested if you can break the bed without sleeping through the complete night but it works when you skip the day.
