Just today I realized this error when I started to raise turtles, I put these with hatches (closed completely), I went upstairs and listened when it broke and clearly the eggs occupy a single block, I was on top of a hatch.
just reproduce it as is.

Yes, you can try any mob, the player also breaks them just by getting on it, it is a fairly serious.
