The bug

When you use a /fill command to replace both an item and the block it was placed on, the item will be dropped as an entity.

How to reproduce

  1. Place a block, and a torch or other item on top

  2. Use a /fill command to replace both with air

Pretty Sure This Is Intended Behavior 

What exact item drop are you referring to?

For me, it happened with redstone torches, redstone dust and a couple others. I assume it works with any item.

Can confirm in 20w51a.

Can confirm in 1.16.5 and 21w08b. Video attached.
