Moderator Note
Realms is currently experiencing some issues, the only recommendation we can give at this moment is to avoid it until the issues are fixed.
Update: Mojang is aware and is trying their best to fix it: https://twitter.com/MojangStatus/status/1275450499949457408
When I am on the menu screen for minecraft for longer than a minute it crashes the game.
Here is the crash report:

Was this on the Realms screen or the actual main menu?

From the main menu, I click to open Realms, and it never renders the Realms screen, just crashes after about 30 seconds or so.

I am having the same issues as Andrew Coffey it just crashes

This happened to me too. When it did load, it gave me the pop-up to buy a realm, and did not show the realms I was already a part of. One time they did load, but when I tried connecting to them I got the error: Realms (500) Could not connect to Realms: Read timed out

I also get this on the main launcher screen when it reopens after the crash:

Same issue. I managed to buy a realm and set it up, but I wanted to log out to change the seed but I got a gateway error of some sorts (didn't grab it in time) and now it's just showing an empty menu which crashes after some time.
EDIT: Latest NVIDIA driver fixed it?

And now the crash is back, even with latest drivers.

I actually have a similar issue. My game crashed each times i tried to open minecraft realm and it never renders.
I decided to uninstall the launcher and re-download it from my mojang account by internet. And its at this moment that i discovered that my realms were not on my mojang account too.
Can somebody else go check if i'm the only one ?

Same for me Patrick, the Realm does not show up on my account. Making me think this could be a server-side issue perhaps and it's trying to render a message which is causing the crash?

I have the same problem. I tried to delete the launcher and redowload it. It had no effect.
I cant tell if its a problem with minecraft or my computer.
When it started, I simple was updating the world on the realm, while the screen froze. It was taking a while so I ALT F4d. It took another 2 minutes for it to load then shut off.

The Realm Screen froze for me too while changing some settings. That was when this started happening. After updating my drive it started working again, but I changed another setting and then it froze and now the crash is back.

I have the same issue. I open the realms screen, the game freezes then crashes.

My guess is Realms may be down right now... but still this bug applies because the game should not be crashing when it cannot connect to realms. It should gracefully give an error message.

Same for my Realm keeps crashing, I even closed the realm to start a new one but I can't even get to the realm menu

Here is what my crash screen says after I try to load realms. Happens in about 1 minute, and the realms screen is completely blank.

My issue is similar to Patrick's. My realm is missing from my account after re downloading the game launcher and I was getting the same crash.

Same issue here, soon as I click on to the Realms page from the main menu, i see saving for a brief moment then crash to rendering screen error. I briefly got on to Realms for 5 minutes to view my world but now it refuses to let me in.

Same issue here:

I am having the exact same issue

I had the same probleme, first I was able to get in, after a couple min later I get kick out of my realm, when I restarted, It didn't save my progress, and now I seem to be not even able to get in my Realm at all. I do luckely saved a backup on my pc befor all this happend

same here now this my fourth day not play mincraft.

Same problem: updated to 1.16, and clicking "minecraft realms" opens the screen, then after waiting a few minutes flashes
"Saving world" and then crashes the game with the following crash report:
[media]
My realms subscription has also disappeared from mineraft.net:

Luckily I downloaded the backup before updating.

Happening for my realm as well.

All I do on Minecraft is play realms and my worlds weren't backed up. You'd think they would test out the update before releasing it.

Load launcher with 1.16 latest release selected.
Select play
Select Realms
On realms screen either:
Loads main text at top and bottom but the rest is blank (Background is visible).
Realm game is missing so can't load the game. Have to start from the beginning (point 1)
or
The realms button is there but takes over a minutes to appear
If the realms button is there to load the game.
select the game
It takes about 30 to over a minute before it takes you back to the launcher with crash report.
If you access the admin section to say back up the world or start a new on there is only a few buttons at the top and the three main boxes are missing.

this happens to me too! I've restarted my computer twice and it still doesn't work

leave minecraft and the launcher for a little bit. this worked for me.

I do believe a hotfix was just rolled out, could you check if it is still an issue?

It wont let me in gives a 504 timeout

[[Mod] Galaxy_2Alex|https://bugs.mojang.com/secure/ViewProfile.jspa?name=galaxy_2alex] well, sort of

Those are all different errors, as long as the game doesn't crash, it's good.

Confirmed, have the same behavior.

@Nik: That is not a crash, that is a connection error.

Never said it was a crash, just confirmed the behavior from the previous comment of Noah.

Still getting alternating 500, 502, and 504 errors. One time it gave me a 504 error, I hit "ok", then it thought for a bit and loaded the game. I played for a bit, wasn't kicked, logged out of Realms to see if I could log back in and not lose any progress, and then got the 500 & 504 error again.
Not sure if this matters or not, but the 'screen shot' for my Realm shows an image of a mini-game, even though up until the 1.16 update we've been playing in a world and not a mini-game. (It also takes FOREVER to load the Realm World thumbs under Configure World.)
