So the standard hopper unloader system isn't working in 1.16/1.16.1 multiplayer.
The minecart hopper just zooms on by right over the hoppers and keeps going instead of the comparator detecting it quick enough to stop the rail as the minecart passes by over it.
This unloader is working in single player, not multiplayer.

This design has worked for nearly 7 years. The video shows what should happen.
Atm it's acting like nothings there and just bounces back into the rail way before unloading the items.
I've tested 3 or 4 different unloaders to no avail,.. its just wont detect items from the minecart hopper in time for it to output any signal.
Very important for servers, especially to keep lag down. The only alternative is to use tons upon tons of hoppers until this is patched.

After further experimenting it looks like its not a minecart issue but a hopper/comparator issue. It's now an issue in both singleplayer/multiplayer. 1 item passing through a hopper at a time (like how a minecart hopper drops items into the hopper) does not cause the comparator to update and output a signal at all.
[media]Further further experimenting... it appears another hopper beneath a hopper is pulling the item so fast it's not causing an update to the comparator.
"Quick hopper behavior" is a more proper title
A quick patch to the unloader design, have 1 hopper unload into a chest before another hopper... This will cause the minecart to stop and unload.
The issue is the same on singleplayer. Playing Minecraft Java Edition 1.16. Everything works well, until you place another hopper below the first one.
With the new simulation-distance setting in multiplayer can you check if this still occurs in the current snapshots?
