Whenever I open the resource pack folder in dolphin (manjaro's default file manager), minecraft freezes until I close it. It also denies the existence of the resource packs I've put in the folder even when closing the resource pack menu and reopening (by deny, I mean it just doesn't show up in the selection menu). Minecraft also freezes up sometimes while applying server resource packs.

I feel like these bugs aren't seperate at all, they both are related to resource packs, and both cause freezing. Sure, I worded them like seperate bugs, but they could entirely be the same bug.
These are two separate issues - MC-188473 for the need to reload the game for packs to show up, and potentially, MC-184761 for the game freezing when the folder is open, provided you are in full screen - if you are not, please provide more details about your situation in the other report so we can update it.
As it was said, please keep it to one bug per report.
