Unreasonably high ms ticks in 1.16.1 - severe delays in world interaction

I've been playing Minecraft today, and all of the sudden, I am experiencing unreasonably higher ms ticks in the world.

This has happened before during the 1.14 snapshots (see MC-138550) (but far worse), but it seems to make a comeback, unfortunately.

The Problems That Occur:

  • Breaking a block in Survival will reappear for a few seconds before dropping

  • Entities are much slower than usual, especially while attacking

  • Eating will take a long time before it registers

What I Tried To Do:

  • Lower Render Distance

  • Lower Mipmap Levels

  • Lower Entity Distance

  • Decreased Particles

  • Checked Random Tick Speed

What Ended Up Happening:

❌  - ms ticks remain between 50-150, where it should be way less...

Other Notes:

:info: Random Tick Speed is set to 3

:info: Seed: 732795237935697572

In the log, this seems to come up often:

[11:43:03] [Server thread/WARN]: Can't keep up! Is the server overloaded? Running [x]ms or [y] ticks behind

I have attached the world download for those who want to confirm. Please refer to the Environment tab of this issue to get the specs. If you have an old MacBook Air lying around, use it to test the issue.

What is the gamerule "randomTicktime" set to?

Christopher Lewis

It's set to 3, the default tick speed. That never changed.

Thank you for your report!
However, this issue has been temporarily closed as Awaiting Response - this does not mean the report is not valid, we just need more information to verify it.

While the lag occurs, please run /debug start, wait a while and then run /debug stop in order to create a debug profile. Afterwards, run /debug report.

If you do not have the permission to run these commands, open your world to LAN and enable cheats. If you're on a server, make sure that you're a server operator in order to execute these commands.

Then, please attach the profile results found in [minecraft/debug/profile-results-<DATE>.txt|https://minecrafthopper.net/help/guides/finding-minecraft-data-folder], as well as the debug report found in [minecraft/debug/debug-report-<DATE>.zip|https://minecrafthopper.net/help/guides/finding-minecraft-data-folder] here.

What are your video settings?

Also in what version has this world been created? It doesn't look like it has originally been created in 1.16.

Added debug reports from 1.16-pre2 and 20w20a

A guy was running 1.16.1 on macOS 11 (Big Sur) beta, and he was experiencing the same issue with high ms ticks. But I don't know what settings he has enabled...

I don't think we can do much here as no one can reproduce this issue here with your world. Also it should be noted that your cpu is below minimum requirements.

In the video the guy clearly stated that he had no issues with this before with Catalina. For him apparently it's the OS version. No idea how this video should relate to your issue.

I'm sorry, but we are unable to reproduce this in any capacity, and have not received any similar reports to yours either.
