note that this is on a server. idk what kind. if you need the type of server, tell me how to find it.
*Summary*
so... basically what is happening is that, whenever I try to make a nether portal approximately anywhere in the overworld, as long as it is away from an existing one in the overworld, the coordinate conversion for the overworld to the nether gets messed up and that portal, sends me back to the original nether portal.
What I expected to happen was...:
I expected the game to make a new portal in the nether
What actually happened was...:
it brought me back to the older portal instead. so in other words, its basically like the second portal in the overworld never existed.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. build a nether portal
2. go to the nether
3. go back to the overworld and build a new nether portal
4. go through that new portal and you should end up at the same place that the first one spawned at.
5. try going back to the overworld, and you should end up at the first portal. (media fire link will show how to reproduce this bug)

You have built your portal too close to the first portal in overworld. If you built the second portal in the range of 1150 blocks then that portal in overworld will link to the first portal in the nether. If you have built your portal out of this range and it is still linked to the first portal then it is a bug.
Portal linkage is quite complex, please read up on it here: https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Nether_portal#Portal_linkage_between_Overworld_and_Nether
This is intentional.
