What I expected to happen was...:
Trading with a villager (weaponsmith in this particular case) a lot should make your trades cheaper.
What actually happened was...:
All prices were lowered except for the iron trade (which even got worse).

Using a trade a lot makes it less valuable, this is intentional, see MC-146373.
