Assumed Cause - Black-Out Causing Corruption
Earlier today, laptop had a "black-out". Screen went black while playing the game, with some other apps open in the background. All I could do was press buttons to hear several beeps. Had to force-shut it down to fix it. A quick bit of research tells me it was a CPU problem, which seems likely considering the age of my device. Assuming my outdated & damaged CPU is now having an effect on the game.
Bug Discovery
Launched Minecraft for the first time after the "black-out". Entered a world, was presented with certain blocks having static-like faces. Did not affect entities or tile-entities, however. Opened my inventory & went into the search bar, looked up "Pig" & found that spawn eggs were affected too. Not sure if other items are affected.
Assumed it was a resource pack problem & turned off the only one I had on. If anything, it made the problem worse. Every tile, even those underwater, was now affected. As I placed/removed blocks, the static faces changed.
Was told to re-launch the game, which actually worked. Although, it could always came back in a certain launch of the game again.
My Assumptions
Could be a genuine visual bug. Could also be a form of corruption from the black-out I had. It could also just be a sign that my CPU has reached the end of its days.
TL;DR
Had a black-out today, might have caused corruption
Launched game, found static-y visual bug, only affected certain things & changed in certain conditions
Re-launched game, problem solved, could come back again
