Starting from Minecraft 1.8, short grass is no longer affected by Mipmapping. From searching, there is no source in the changelogs stating this was an intentional change.
Steps to Reproduce:
Create a single biome world, all plains (Not necessarily required, but is the easiest biome)
Enable mipmapping
→ Observe resultsNow, disable mipmapping
→ Observe results
Observed Behavior:
When the short grass viewed from a distance, it will appear very grainy, and unpleasant when compared to other surrounding blocks.
Expected Behavior:
The short grass would properly be affected by mipmapping, like other blocks.

1.16.1 Grass (Grainy and very runny in the Distance, no matter which Mipmap Level, the Mipmap Level is on 4 in the Screenshot)
1.7.10 Grass (Loses a lot of Detail and Transparancy in the Distance with Mipmap enabled, making it smooth)

Is this bug intentional or not?
Affects 1.20.4 and 23w51b.
Here is a clear view of the difference between mipmap off, and level 4:

Notice how the grass changes, and the short grass does not.
Worth noting: it is now called 'short_grass'.
