Nether Portal spawns in the ground, far from any surface. Possibly due to lava pockets or lava pockets connected to each other.

Affects versions: 1.16.1 possibly others.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not but if it were fixed it would be a nice quality of life change.

Is this a ruined portal, or a portal you used to get from the overworld to the nether?
Furthermore, did you manually edit or delete the DIM-1 folder?
