Minecraft Base Resource Pack stated as for a newer version

The default Minecraft resource pack is defined as  for a newer version of Minecraft. I saw a similar thread that suggested to fresh install the game. I tried that and I am still getting that message. There's no graphical issues, just that error message. If someone could explain to me why that is, that would be very helpful. 🙂
