When going to make some weakness potions for a project i had i noticed when i placed the fermented spider eye in the brewing slot it wasn't brewing the potions and the brewing icon wasn't moving.
Edit: i had the right ingredients (Strength potion + Fermented spider eye)

You can't use awkward potions to make weakness potions - you have to use plain water bottles with fermented spider eyes. Does that explain your problem?
