While playing survival in the past couple days/weeks there has been a rare chance that a mob will be present but will appear to be completely invisible. You are still able to hear the mobs so its not like they are just not there. I don't know what causes this but it it has almost killed me before. Reloading the world will make them visible again, but them being invisible in the first place is the issue.
