No matter what I try to do redownload, sign out, relaunch, it will not let it update to 1.16.2. Therefore I can not play with friends, or do anything. I am stuck in 1.16.1 hell, I just bought and downloaded this game.

Hello, I looked at that issue and it doesn't seem to be related to the issue I am having. I can play single player all i want and have no problem starting the game. It simply isn't updated to the newest version, therefore I can not play with friends or join servers.
The moderator note tells you what to do, thanks - please do also note that MCL-14369 remains open.
