Using a resource pack at launch, makes english text get spaced weirdly

What I expected to happen was...:
I installed "faithful 32x" for the recent snapshots and 1.6 updates, everytime i open Minecraft on any version from 13w24a whilst the faithful pack was selected the text was extremely unreadable.. Only on "English US/UK and Australian english" Although. Pirate worked fine.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open minecraft 1.6 with a resource pack selected instead of default. You now have that problem on default and i would assume other resource packs.
2. Open on default and its fine. as in open, select default. reopen, fine!
