I was moving a shulker in a boat to the exit portal, and pushed it into the portal with water. It got inside the portal but neither the boat or the shulker got teleported to the overworld. I couldn't get them out, and attempts to move them with pistons did not work.
This took place in 1.16.3 on a java realm.
