The item texture for candles look like something I'm not sure I can name here

Actually, as @unknown said, these textures were made by Mojang, so this is not a bug and will be likely to be marked as invalid by a mod.
That is your mind. I didn't think anything bad until you said it. Possible they can dim the line, but nothing else needs changing.

I wouldn't say that because an item "looks weird" it is classed as a bug. This is just the way the item has been designed and nothing else.
