If you place a candle on top of tnt, light the tnt, and waterlog the lit block before it explodes, the candle will stay floating there.

Hey, there is a bug in this snapshot where candles act as full blocks, and this could be the reason for candles appearing to float when blocks are broken underneath them. This is being tracked in MC-203572.
