I decided to bind inventory to the Tab key and it will only let me open my inventory and not close it when I press tab again. I looked it up and I saw people saying this has been a problem since 1.14? Is there any way to fix this.

Cannot reproduce on a Win 10 2004 desktop, Tab closes the inventory in creative, survival, and adventure. Perhaps you could provide some non-sensitive device information?
I assume you are using MacOS. To do anything related to f3 and keys that have other intended function, you need to press fn + chosen key.
Can reproduce on Windows. Happens only in the creative "Search Items" tab. Everywhere else tab closes the inventory properly. This wasn't an issue on 1.16.1. This ticket needs to be reopened.
