If someone feels like helping, i reckon figuring out when this bug came back (what ver. exactly) would be useful for the dev team.
Yes. Did so before posting the ticket. This is not my first bug report, i know not to use any modded content with such things.
Test for yourself if you don't believe me.
Ignore the image background, i've tested it on a vanilla version of the game to confirm but took the screenshot afterwards when i returned to my modded game.
I've been following and reporting on this issue for a while now and given the complete lack of consideration from mojang, pointing out (very) valid reasons here is next to useless in getting this fixed.
They believe accessibility is above and beyond any other user preference, and other obtuse decisions like auto-jump on by default confirms this. That being said, maybe there is hope for this to be addressed properly at some point, but unless you open a new ticket and make sure it gets enough user complaints to show them that people care about this, I doubt will be treated differently.
In the meantime your best bet is to use mods that restore this functionality instead.
