'Failed to log in. The authentication servers are down'

Hi,

I'm struggling to join any online minecraft server.

I keep getting the error message 'Failed to log in. The authentication servers are down'
My friends are able to join servers meaning the servers are not down for maintenance at the time I am writing this.

I have tried the following to no avail:

Restarted my router
Logged out and logged back in
Reinstalled Minecraft/The Launcher
Allowed the program through my antivirus/Turned off anti virus
Changed and reset my DNS settings

If you could shed some light on this situation & possibly send me the solution I would be very grateful.
